Timber Frame
An elemental refuge high above the Salish Sea.
Set near the summit of a remote Orcas Island ridgeline, this timber-framed home was designed to endure—withstand the elements, harness natural light, and offer its owners a sense of quiet permanence. Three round volumes form a loose triangle, connected by a soaring great room framed in heavy timbers—an organic geometry that echoes the contours of the land.
Crafted from coast and mountain.
The timber structure was precision-cut in Squamish, BC, then trucked to the island and assembled
on-site—a blend of international expertise and local craft. Natural stonework by a Lopez Island mason
grounds the house in place, while wood finishes carry warmth through every room.

A quiet complexity.
From the outside, the home’s turrets and low rooflines evoke a kind of rugged romance.
Inside, complex rooflines, overlapping volumes, and finely executed details reveal the sophistication of the build. Even the indoor Endless Pool—now enclosed in folding glass walls—
offers a moment of indulgence amidst the elemental resilience.
We specialize in crafting sophisticated custom homes that embrace the natural beauty and unique lifestyle of the San Juan Islands.
